Betsy’s Place provides Treatment for victims of abuse and neglect, specializing in children who are treatment resistant and often hard to place. Children who suffer from severe trauma, mental illness, behavioral and emotional disorders will find treatment at Betsy’s Place. We specialize in treating , ADHD, mood disorders, RAD, bipolar, ODD, sexual abuse, and PTSD. These are children who can no longer function in their home and community settings whose behavior is often disruptive and difficult to control. These behaviors may be aggressive and threatening requiring direct supervision to ensure their safety and the safety of others. Structure, consistency of daily routines, and intensive treatment are key components of the success children will achieve at Betsy’s Place. Brian and Betsy McHugh are LMSW’s, both with 25 years experience treating mental and emotional disorders in children, adults and families. Betsy has practiced as a Clinician, Children’s Supervisor, and Clinical Director in both the public and private sector. She has a passion for restoring the lives of Children and is an expert in treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Brian worked in the CMH system for 23 years. He served for 9 years as CMH director of clinical services for adults and children. He has expertise in crisis intervention, treatment of chronic mental illness, and suicide assessment and prevention. He has given numerous presentations on youth suicide prevention and assessment. Joe is an LLBSW and is currently completing his MSW degree at MSU. He has 10 years experience working in residential treatment settings, as well as experience in elementary school social work and the CMH system. Joe is a certified CPI instructor and provides on-site training in nonviolent crisis intervention for all staff.
